HOW TO RID YOURSELF OF LOOSE-AGGRESSIVE POKER PLAYERS
How does one rid oneself of loose-aggressive players? You know the kind i'm speaking of! The kind of players that play every hand, bet heavy with an A-2, chase a straight or flush to the bitter end or try to just plain intimidate you out of your pot. There are alot of strategies on the net to help you defeat this sort of player, but they are not guaranteed. The loose-aggressive gets lucky and cleans you out no matter the strategy you chose to use. Strategies aren't fool proof, because the fools still get lucky and take all your chips. So what do you do? Well i have a theory!
If you are a regular online poker player then you know that multi-table freeroll tournaments are the worst for this type of play. Players go all-in all of the time, bet heavy pre-flop with lousy hole cards, call pre-flop with lousy hole cards and are usually willing to lose it all with a pocket pair or by chasing a staight. When i started playing online poker, i was convinced that i would be the next WSOP champion! All i had to do was enter some freerolls and win my way into WSOP qualifier tournaments. Oh yeah baby! I had a plan. After all i'm an awesome player! NOT! You can't play good poker against players with nothing to lose. The rules of the game change. I like to refer to freerolls as slot machine poker. Everybody just goes all-in, lays their cards on the table and the best hand wins!(Jackpot)
So how do you rid yourself of the loose-aggressive players? You have to get out of the loose-aggressive player environment. Rid yourself of the atmosphere where this style of play exists. What do i mean by this? You have to start taking your poker skills seriously and start playing on real money tables. I'm not saying you have to start spending a wad of cash every month to play online. You should limit yourself to a monthly poker budget and stick to it. Not only will this help you become a better player, but you'll have less loose-aggressives to deal with. I've found that the number of loose-aggressives at your table are directly proportional to the amount of the buy-in. The higher the buy-in the lower the number of loose-aggressives you'll have at your table. Don't be naive though! There will always be a loose-aggressive no matter what the buy-in is, but you'll have an easier time using sound strategies to defeat this type of player.
Multi-table freeroll tournaments are a great place to start your online poker experience, but don't get frustrated with the style of play! The loose-aggressive style of play at freerolls runs rampant and can in my opinion turn a great player into an awful player. Don't let freerolls bring you down! Start taking your poker playing skills seriously and play on real money tables! The style of play is better and your game will improve ten-fold simply because everyone at your table has something to lose!
